So cool to come across this amazing Illustrated Journaling artwork on Goodreads of my book, The Hiding Girl (Emily Calby Book 1), penned by Niki McNeil:

Love it! From the pictures—Emily’s neck knife, her fake driver’s license, Lucas’s Mr. Good Lookin’ is Cookin’ apron, Darla and Peggy’s trailer, even the gas can that caused so much destruction and sent Emily on her terrifying journey—to the selection of quotations. I would have never thought so much about the book could be captured in a single drawing.

Here’s a list of the quotations Niki selected for her masterpiece in her order (not chronological as they appear in the book):

“The hiding girl starts to panic, but calm girl says take deep breaths and think.”

“The line between revenge and justice depends on several factors.” — The preacher in Louisiana

“Justice. Always comes too late, but it’s still justice.” — Lucas

“Fear is bigger than your enemy. It will lock you up inside. Since you gonna be in the same situation anyway, might as well make the choice not to be afraid. You always got a choice. You’ll come out better for it.” — Lucas

“You either keep going or you die. So the only strength is not dying.” — Emily

“I kept my faith—it belongs to me—but it will be a long time before I step inside another church.” — Emily

“I wish I never met them. Feeling, even a little bit, is dangerous; much worse than not feeling at all. I vow to never make another friend.” — Emily

“Told him I knew it for a fact. Said I lost hope a long time ago. Only found it again when I met the Amazin’ Emily Calby.” — Lucas

“Always remember to be thankful for even the smallest of blessings.” — Emily’s preacher back in Georgia, before the day the two men came
